During her time as the 2016 ELB Foundation Fellow Aleisha Rosso was pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Vanderbilt University. Her research was focused on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) diagnosis, and meeting quality measures in the Medicare/Medicaid and other underserved populations. She was also a Family Nurse Practitioner at Genesee Community Health Center in Flint, Michigan, where she was born.

Aleisha graduated from the School of Nursing & Health Studies at Georgetown University in April of 2016 with a Master of Science in Nursing degree. Prior to attending Georgetown University, Aleisha received an Associate Degree in Nursing as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Baker College. She was an exceptional undergraduate student, earning multiple faculty awards, student-nominated class offices, and a coveted student internship in the intensive care unit at McLaren Flint hospital. Aleisha also served as an adjunct clinical faculty member at Baker College for two years, beginning in 2014.

Since the beginning of her career and education in nursing, Aleisha has sought to serve the Flint, Michigan community. She has been employed as a Registered Nurse in a Flint, Michigan hospital, has volunteered in the local free medical clinic, and has also been involved as a foster parent in the area. Her ultimate goal is to open a COPD clinic in her community, where smoking and COPD rates are particularly high.
